About Anitra Handley-Boyt

Anitra Handley-Boyt started her art education as a toddler accompanying her mother to her art classes at American University and George Washington University and studio work at the Smithsonian. She was provided a stool and an easel next to her mom or a seat and clay depending on the class. Anitra worked primarily in pen and ink and pencil on paper for many years. In 1997 Anitra began painting in oils and completed her first painting, Fireflower instead of studying for The Bar Exam. In 1999 Anitra moved to New York and attended several hundred shows to educate herself on pricing and presentation. Since Anitra began her career as an artist in 1997, she has had many lucrative sales; she has been published in the New York Times...

Hi Tery, I was in the throws of a very turbulent period in my life with my husband who was at that point drinking etc and life was often full of calling the police when he was menacing or turning the house on its head. I was thinking of a village nestled into the hillside of a mountain where it would still have an incredible view but would be otherwise protected by the very scary storms.

I would love to hear what your inspiration was for this painting🦋 It is absolutely beautiful.
